Augustinian Recollect Secular Fraternity (FSAR)

The Augustinian Recollect Secular Fraternity is spread across 15 nations. It is currently made up of 111 local fraternities that bring together 3,450 brothers and sisters who live their faith in the world with the desire to have one soul and one heart directed toward God.

The FSAR is a part of the Augustinian Recollect family, made up of lay people who wish to live the Augustinian Recollect charism with greater commitment, and collaborate with the religious in evangelization and in the promotion of vocations and the charism, while participating in the spiritual goods of the Order.

They are lay people who profess to live the Augustinian Recollect charism, which is governed by the Rule of Life and its own statutes approved by the Church.

The Augustinian Recollect Secular Fraternity tries to:
  • Giving meaning to everyday life through faith and love

  • Personal and liturgical prayer

  • Follow a process of spiritual life and ongoing training

  • Living family life with joy

  • Participate in meetings (prayer, formation, fraternal life, mission)

  • Celebrate the Order's holidays and spiritual retreats

  • Have spiritual assistance and fraternal relationship with the religious community

  • To collaborate according to one's own possibilities in the apostolic and social activities of the Order.

Monica Mothers

The Community of Christian Mothers of Santa Monica is a Catholic Association; that is, an organization of Christian mothers recognized by the ecclesiastical authority, who are dedicated to praying for their children. It is also considered a public Association, recognized by the ecclesiastical authority and placed under the care, guidance and spirituality of the Order of Augustinian Recollects.

"The Association aims to provide its members with ongoing and progressive training as mothers of faith, so that, convinced that faith is the greatest treasure they can bequeath to their children, they effectively defend their faith" (Decree, 2), states the decree with which it is recognized as such.

History

Father Lorenzo Infante, an Augustinian Recollect, authorized by the Provincial Father, asked the Archbishop of Madrid, Cardinal Ángel Suquía Goicoechea, to approve the statutes of the Community of Christian Mothers of Santa Monica. He also requested that he canonically establish it as a Public Association of the Faithful.

The response was not long in coming. Thus, on November 6, 1987, the statutes were approved and the Association called “Community of Christian Mothers of Santa Monica” was established.

It was born in the Parish of Santa Rita in Madrid, but quickly spread to other parish communities run by the Augustinian Recollects in various dioceses, not only in Spain but also abroad.

The central office began to operate in Madrid, where there was evidence of more than 30,000 members in different cities and regions of the following countries: Spain, Hungary, the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica and Peru.

In Spain alone, more than sixty thousand forms were distributed with the prayers of the Christian Mothers.

CEAR

The Augustinian Recollect Spirituality Center (CEAR) offers spiritual formation and personal accompaniment on the path of Christian vocation under the charism of Saint Augustine.

Human growth

Through courses and workshops that facilitate self-knowledge, through the interiority proposed by Saint Augustine. Follow the path of Jesus the man to reach Christ God.

Accompaniment

What used to be "spiritual direction" is now "comprehensive accompaniment" with a more delicate treatment of the person.

Social action

Addressing the urgent needs of the place where they are located and transforming their environment. The measure of love is love without measure.

Augustinian experiences

Through silent retreats, spiritual exercises and prayer workshops where we speak from our own lives and share them in the style of Saint Augustine. Unification of the heart.

Training

It is about training people with evangelical attitudes in Augustinian philosophy, capable of changing the world as Christians. Believe what you learn, teach what you believe, practice what you teach.
